Our Steers

All of our steers are born and raised on our ranch. They are weened off of their mother's at approximately 6 months old. They stay on good coastal pasture until at approximately 14 months old, we then take them to our feed lot to start the feeding out process. They are given a special blend of feed along with coastal and alfalfa hay until they are ready for slaughter.

2024 Steer Information

Steers will be fed out for approx. 100-120 days.
Customer can pick out their steer when the steers are put in the feed lot.
Customers must put down a deposit

$1,000 for a full steer
$500 for half a steer

Steers will be taken to Hamilton Quality Meats on October 14, 2024.
Final costs of the steer owed to Owen Ranch in October 2024 is $6.00 per pound/hanging weight minus the deposit already paid by customer.
Customer will need to call Hamilton Quality Meats on the day the steer is delivered for processing to fill out the cut sheet.
Customer is responsible for the processing fee charged by Hamilton Quality Meats. For 2024, they charge $85 plus $1.05 per pound hanging weight for standard processing.
Processing of the steer takes approx. 3 weeks. Customer can pick up their meat from the processor or Owen Ranch can pick it up and deliver to the customer.
